The North Early Learning Center will:

1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards by utilizing a curriculum and instructional strategies that are:
• Research based
• Integrated across and within content areas
• Aimed at addressing individual student needs
• Aimed at addressing individual student learning styles
• Culturally diverse
• Based on Essential Elements or National Standards and measurable
• Designed to promote the development of the whole Child: expressive / receptive language, reading / thinking and written communication

2. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Each year teachers and staff will conduct a minimum of two home visits and two conferences at the campus.
3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress. Parents will receive reports of their children’s progress a minimum of four times per year during home visits and conferences.
4. Provide parents reasonable access to staff. Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents before school or after school.
5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities on a daily basis.
6. Notify parents of school events in a timely manner by sending a monthly school calendar.
7. Offer flexible scheduling of parent meetings, training sessions and parent conferences to maximize parent participation.
8. Provide translations of written notifications and interpreters at parent conferences, parents meetings and training sessions.
9. Conduct training sessions/workshops to parents and community members relative to diverse topics and issues.
Parent Responsibilities

1. Have my child to school every day and on time
2. Read to my child regularly to encourage my child to be a reader
3. Talk to my child about his/her school activities
4. Visit the school, meet the teacher, learn what the school is doing for my child and learn how I can take part
5. Seek information regarding my child’s progress by attending conferences with teachers, principals and other school district personnel
6. Expect my child to conduct himself/herself in an appropriate manner
7. Discipline my child in a caring way
8. Participate in parent group (Policy Council, Parent/Teacher workshops, Parent/Teachers) meetings to contribute to the decision-making process at North Early Learning Center and the District
9. Help my child to recognize that routine healthy behaviors include sleep, rest, exercise, personal hygiene, oral health and proper nutrition
10. Be responsive to teacher requests and discuss any concerns regarding my child in a responsible and timely manner
11. Communicate the importance of education by setting high expectations for my child
12. Model the belief that learning takes place at school and home, and that learning is a life-long process
13. Communicate positive information regarding teachers, the principal and other campus personnel when discussing school with my child.
